Dr. Kishor Kumar Keekan obtained his Masters in Microbiology from the Post Graduate Department of Microbiology, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa College, Cauvery Campus – Mangalore University, Madikeri and PhD in Applied botany from Mangalore University,  Mangalagangotri, Mangaluru. Later Dr. Kishor was teaching both under/post graduates before moving to the Dept. of Microbiology, Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya University, Mangaluru as a post-doctoral fellow. Since July 2013, he is working as an Assistant Professor at Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).

His research is focused mainly on “Bioprospecting Bacteria and Fungi” (bioactive secondary metabolites, microbial bioprocess etc). Currently he is on his 2 years, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM)/Marine Biodiscovery laboratory, School of Chemistry, National University of Ireland, Galway,  Ireland.
