M.Sc. (Area): Microbiology
My name is Akash Mitra and I have done my graduation and post-graduation in Microbiology from Adamas University, Kolkata. I always had an inclination towards research and academics which led to me start my journey of Ph.D. I have a hobby of reading non-fiction and fantasy books.
- Worked in a project titled “Gene annotation and mutational study of TG gene involved in thyroid disorder” from BioAxis, Hyderabad
- Qualified GATE Life Science – 2021
- Gold medalist in M.Sc
- Gold medalist in B.Sc

Muscle atrophy can be induced by response to various insults, which might include prolonged disuse, ageing and chronic disease such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Furthermore, muscle atrophy is the consequence of a negative balance between the rate of contractile protein synthesis and degradation. Through our research work, we would try to reverse the muscle atrophy occurring in type 2 diabetes by mobilizing intrinsic stem cells using bioactive lipids.
