I’m Sanjana NS, completed my Bachelor’s of Science from St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore in 2018. As part of graduate dissertation, I worked on a project entitled “Biochemical analysis and antimicrobial properties of indigenous cow urine distillate”. Afterwards, I have completed my post-graduation M.Sc. Zoology from the Department of Applied Zoology, Mangalore University in the year 2020. Currently, I’m working as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and pursuing PhD in Microbiology since early 2021 at Yenepoya Research Centre under the supervision of Dr. Bhagwan Rekadwad.

Experience

I am active in researcher and use various instruments for my research work in Microbial Ecology and Antimicrobial Resistance of microorganisms. I have hands on experience on various instruments and methods includes Soil core samplers, Confocal Microscopy, PCR, Gel Electropheresis, Gel-doc and Fluorescence Microscopy.

Research Interest/Area

Microbial ecology, Antimicrobial resistance, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Microbial phylogeny and Next Generation Sequencing

Research

Currently, I am working on the prevalence of genetic diversity of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in the environment coastal environment, mangroves etc. My research has focus on investigation of potential antibiotic resistant bugs from marine environment polluted by public wastes.
