Research

About 10-20 % of breast cancers are triple-negative breast cancers. This type of cancer tests negative for all the three estrogen, progesterone receptor as well as excess of HER-2 protein and hence, it does not respond to hormonal therapy or drugs that target HER-2 protein receptors. The therapeutic effects of molecular targeting drugs are limited to a short interval, and overall survival remains poor. Therefore, the need for more unique molecular markers is the need of the hour for diagnosis and prognosis to provide clinical basis for individualized treatments. This study could reveal several markers for pathological studies and an efficient workflow for proteomic analysis of TNBC clinical samples.
