MICROBIOLOGY FACILITY

The facility focuses on advanced microbiological research, covering various aspects of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, microbial pathogenesis, microbial genomics, host- pathogen interactions, phage biology, microbiome and one health, development of biotechnology based therapeutics, alternative antibiotics among others. The facility equipped with a range of equipments including Biological Safety Laminar Air Flow Hoods, Incubators supporting different temperatures, incubators for shake flask cultures, Light Microscopes, and Fluorescence Microscopes. In addition analytical equipments such as spectrophotometers, fluorescent spectrometers, FT-IR, ultra sonicators, PCR, electrophoresis units and ultra deep freezers support a wide range of research studies. By collaborating with clinical departments, the facility aims to tackle public health challenges through innovative approaches. The vision is to advance microbiological research, leading to new strategies for preventing, detecting, and treating infectious diseases.
