Bioscience is a new frontier area in life sciences that serves as a gateway for exciting roles in academics, and basic and translational research which cater for the requirements for current continuing education or job opportunities. With the growing awareness of Biological Sciences in the health sector the Govt. of India has implemented various programs to develop student skills in various Universities and Yenepoya Research Centre (YRC), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) is one the prime institutions that cater for the demand for professionals by offering multidisciplinary Bioscience course as masters program.
MSc in Bioscience is a unique program providing a postgraduate degree offered by Yenepoya Research Centre and is designed to equip students with generic skills in both academics and research. The program is designed for 2 years (4 semesters) and the last semester includes dissertation work to be completed preferably in other reputed national Institutes/Organizations. The students are provided with modern facilities to support both curricular and extra-curricular activities. The class teaching is given by dedicated, highly qualified, internationally recognized faculties to ensure world-class teaching, research and evaluation.
M.Sc. Biosciences encompasses an exhaustive list of subjects including Microbiology, Biochemistry, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Omic Technologies and Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Genetic Engineering and Nanotechnology. The practical sessions are a mandatory requirement for every subject where the theoretical content is translated to skill development. There is a continuous system of evaluation through seminars, journal clubs and internal assessments conducted in each subject that helps the students to be abreast of the recent developments in multidisciplinary topics.
This program includes value-added courses and also skill development courses which equip the students to face the challenges in Bioscience education. Besides, the course is based on the Choice-based Credit System that provides the flexibility of taking interdisciplinary subjects catering to their future academic or research interests. The students obtain hands of training on various analytic instruments and advanced instruments in Molecular biology. All trained students get opportunities in academia, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech companies both in national and international organizations.
