The Centre for Systems Biology and Molecular Medicine was jointly established by Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, and the Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore, India, with the vision of innovating and advancing knowledge in the traditional use of indigenous medicine like Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy. CSBMM focuses on multidisciplinary research utilizing cutting-edge multi-omics approaches. The primary objectives of CSBMM are to enable high-throughput proteomics and metabolomics-based research in non-communicable and infectious diseases, establish a NextGen sequencing-based genomics facility for investigating genetic diseases and detecting infectious pathogens, and provide training in proteomics, genomics, and bioinformatics to students and researchers. CSBMM boasts advanced mass spectrometry facilities, including high-resolution mass spectrometers, to drive research projects on human diseases, traditional medicine, and plant proteomics. The centre is well-equipped with experimental and data analysis platforms for state-of-the-art proteomic and metabolomic investigations in biomarker discovery and therapeutic target validation for human diseases. Overall, CSBMM stands at the forefront of innovative research, aiming to make significant contributions to systems biology and molecular medicine while promoting interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge dissemination.
